You and Trash |
YOU create almost 5 pounds of trash every day, according to national averages. Although the solid waste leaves your house, apartment, or business via a high-tech garbage truck and is transported to a nearby landfill, it never "goes away". It remains in permanent waste storage.

Fewer landfills: Over the past two decades, in spite of tremendous population growth, our nation has gone from more than 8,000 unregulated dumps and landfills, to about 1,800 highly regulated regional landfills overseen by multiple federal, state, and local environmental and solid waste entities.
Camino Real Landfill is a privately-owned municipal landfill, regulated by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED). Camino accepts municipal trash only, and does NOT accept medical waste, liquid waste or hazardous waste. Those waste materials are handled in other facilities, which are designed and permitted for that purpose.
